FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 16, 2008

The Atlanta Freedom Concert Band presents “Concert for Hope”

to benefit the Emory University Vaccine Center’s Hope Clinic

Atlanta, April 14, 2008 – The Atlanta Freedom Concert Band will present a concert to benefit the Emory University Vaccine Center’s Hope Clinic, on Saturday May 31st, 7:30 PM, at the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, located at 1328 Peachtree St. in Midtown. Advance tickets are $15/$10 for students/seniors. Tickets purchased at the door are $20/$15. All tickets include admittance to a post concert reception.

This year’s “Concert for Hope” will be the Atlanta Freedom Concert Band’s first benefit concert. Our founder Buz Carr succumbed to HIV-AIDS in May of 1995. We have had other members felled by HIV-AIDS and have members living with HIV. We feel “The Hope Clinic is a wonderful charity to support with the proceeds of our first benefit concert” says AFB president Mike Boykin. The Atlanta Freedom Bands support Hope’s mission to develop “safe and effective vaccines and other prevention methods against HIV and other infectious diseases.” To learn more about the Atlanta Freedom Bands visit www.atlantafreedombands.com and the Hope Clinic at www.medicine.emory.edu/id/hopeclinic/.

The Atlanta Freedom Bands was the inspiration of founder Buz Carr in 1993 and has grown to include the Atlanta Freedom Concert Band, the Atlanta Freedom Marching Band, the MetroGnomes Stage Band, the Atlanta Freedom Brass Quintet and the Atlanta Freedom Color Guard. Membership is comprised of individuals representing a diverse range of backgrounds, ages, experience and skill levels. The mission is based on the principles of commitment, volunteerism, respect for others, and of course, fun! The Atlanta Freedom Bands remains committed to Buz Carr's dream of promoting greater awareness of Atlanta's GLBT community.
