Kurt Wackerly is honored to be the Associate Director of the Atlanta Freedom Bands as well as a member of the AFB Woodwind Quintet and Chair of the Artistic Committee. He received his music education degree in 1994 from Bowling Green State University of Ohio. Upon graduation, he taught music grades five through twelve in the McComb Local School District which is near Findlay, Ohio. After four years of public school teaching, he attended The Ohio State University as a Fellowship student in Conducting. While in Ohio, Mr. Wackerly was very active with the Ohio Music Education Association, the Hancock County Music Teachers Association, and the Findlay Community Band. In 2001 opportunities brought him to Atlanta. Mr. Wackerly joined the Atlanta Concert Band playing the French horn and was an Assistant Conductor from 2007 - 2011. He is a member of the Atlanta Wind Symphony, active with his church music ministry, and a member of the National Band Association. Presently he is the on-site manager of a high rise condominium in the Buckhead Heights district..
