The Color Guard has been around since 1993, just like the AFMB. Ever since, they have become the star of our "road show" and are a vital part of making sure we are visible in our community. The AFBCG has continued to grow to better serve our community of gender and sexual minorities and allies through notable appearances on Vice's "Gaycation" Series, hosting, choreographing and performing with the 2013 LGBA conference Marching Band and being featured/photographed for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in AFB's appearance in the Atlanta St. Patrick's Day parade in 2015. We were the first self- identified LGBT group to ever appear in this event!
Combining traditional flag and rifle, pompom, and pop dance techniques, their routines are always full of energy and it's hard to take your eyes off them. Like our music ensembles, the AFBCG does not have auditions, and they take great care to welcome new members and teach everything you need to know.
Rehearsals are generally on Sundays from 6-8p, at St. Paul UMC in Grant Park. If you would like to spin a flag, toss a rifle, or work a baton, we would love to have you join us!
