Atlanta Freedom Bands is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

An affiliate of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA).

The Concert Band symphonic ensemble was formed in 2007 by Bob Derrickson. They strive to produce quality musical productions that are interesting for both performers and audiences.  Additionally, they are constantly working to feature works by local and/or LGBTQ composers, bring in guest artists, and be a source of quality community band music in Atlanta.

The 60-65 member group performs a variety musical styles and difficulty ranging from grades 3 to 5.  Rehearsals are two hours in length with approximately 8-10 rehearsals leading up to a performance. All are welcome in this non-audition ensemble; however, members may rotate based on the instrumentation needs at any given time. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 6-8p at St. Paul UMC in Grant Park.
